Why You Need A Feng Shui Master

The Doubting Thomases laugh. But I believe that there is truth in feng shui, my Catholic faith notwithstanding.

It's not that it can't hurt. Some say that they would try out feng shui because "what can you lose by turning your table this way or another"? But it can. Pointing your table in the direction of a disaster star could make your business go awry, result in health problems or even

Chinese Food and California Wines? Beringer Thinks So.

There's a been a superstorm of activities the past couple of weeks, in the aftermath of the aftermath of Yolanda.

Of course in the aftermath were all these benefit dinners. I attended a great one at the home of the Swiss Ambassador organized by Amy Besa in collab with Pinoy Eats World and the Kawali Kings. I finally got to taste the lamb adobo of JJ Yulo, which is to die for. (Good job, JJ!

MENU for Inquirer Lifestyle | Helping Out While Eating Out - Here's How

It almost feels as if the country’s faith is being tested,
with a supertyphoon immediately following a super earthquake, and the
casualty statistics hitting not only hundreds but the tens of thousands.

But out of these tests of faith come a generosity of spirit that
brings the nation together and makes us stronger. In helping Cebu and
Bohol rise from the effects of the earthquake; and

margauxlicious Eats | Brasserie Girolle

The interiors reminded me of Balthazar minus the antique mirrors. High ceiling, dark walls, definitely a bistro feel.

I had first encountered the creations of Chef Ian Padilla at La Girolle, at a dinner hosted by gourmet Bella Yuchengco. He served us gorgeous creations and at the time (around a year ago) his was the name to watch.

Failing to meet my own three-visit rule, I never got

margauxlicious Art | Claude Tayag: More than a Cook

He's a chef, a writer, devoted husband, gourmet tour guide ... but before he was known for his cooking he was known for his art.

The man is Claude Tayag.

Renaissance Pinoy!

Claude & his darleng Maryann

His works were on display at The Gallery, Arts in the City, at the Fort (between the NBC Tent and the new McDo). The opening was last October 10. Was happy to quickly drop by and show

margauxlicious Eats | Cafe Breton Pizza

Way back in 2011, I asked Kanin Club's Mariela Luna for resto recommendations for Tagaytay. She would know because Kanin Club's first branch was in Sta. Rosa. Then she revealed that she was in town, that she and the love of her life Tony Cancio had a farm, why not come over?

So I found myself with my girlfriends over at Cafe Breton Farms on a rainy evening in 2011. To discover the best pizza

margauxlicious Dinner | A French-Pinoy Menu with Clarendelle wines

There's a new wine company in town: Antique Wine Company. They are developing their portfolio for wines for the Philippine market and they are starting with a lovely French affordable wine inspired by Chateau Haut Brion called Clarendelle.

I was tasked by an old friend to host a dinner to introduce them to fellow foodies. So I called Chef Jessie to create a Frenchified Pinoy menu. We had

margauxlicious Music | I won an Aliw Award! For real!

*Warning: a LOT of pictures of myself below! Allow me to indulge - I'd never won an award like this before!!

I had never attended an awards night before so I was just too happy to be present. I just wanted to see Sarah Geronimo (jeje me thought Sarah Geronimo was present at every music awards show LOL) who sadly wasn't there.

It was the shock of my life to be nominated and an even

margauxlicious Sneak Peek | Maria Luisa Garden

It was my editor in chief who gave me the tip.

Then on a Sunday my family went but they were packed! We were a little disappointed at having to leave without trying the Reuben sandwich they advertised on a chalkboard just right outside the door.

But I finally made it the other night!

It's so pretty. A country escape in the middle of the city.

There are two rooms. This is the one to

Wooden Spoon

Sandy Daza knows it. That the two best things for a life worth living are laughter and good (not necessarily expensive) food.

With Sandy Daza's mom, culinary legend Nora Daza. God bless her soul!

I reviewed Wooden Spoon way back in June 2013.

I remember entering the tiny restaurant with just a row of seats and one chair for four by the door and hoping against hope that Sandy Daza would

For Once in My Life ... I got to listen to Tony Bennett LIVE!

I had been wanting to watch the Tony Bennett concert since I heard that he was coming to the Philippines but the tickets were too expensive. I usually only watch shows with tickets that are too pricey if by some fortunate twist of fate

Postcard from Paris | Robuchon, Robuchon, Robuchon

Robuchon. Always a pleasant experience.

There are the really indulgent ones, like Robuchon a Galera in Macau (no longer around; now it's the Robuchon au Dome at the Grand Lisboa).

Caviar, real truffles and foie gras for an appetizer, a no-holds-barred terrine ... The Filipina waitress pointed the cheapest degustation to me, which made this indignant yuppie order the most expensive one

Postcard from Paris | A Sweet Bite from the City of Light

Laduree ... is just the tip of the iceberg.

A few sweet bites in the City of Light ...

A little late in the game as I've never really ridden on trends but I finally know what a "cronut" is.

These are from Raffles - not in Paris but in the beautiful City of Makati. I mention them because I just had them a few days ago and these are what inspired this post.

They use the other halves
